Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director and screenwriter of “Squid Game,” admitted that he lost “eight or nine” due to stress while filming the first season of the drama. He told this to the BBC.
Heck stated that he was motivated solely by “money” to create a sequel. The director explained that he did not make much profit after the first season aired, so he plans to compensate for the “success of the first season” with future episodes.
The director also expressed the opinion that he did not completely finish the story in the first season, although almost all the characters remained in it. Heck added that he was now under “even more stress” as he worked on the story with a new cast, slate of performances and high audience expectations.
“I haven’t been to the dentist yet, but I’ll probably need to have a few more teeth pulled soon,” the director joked.
