American rapper and singer Sean Combs (P. Diddy), accused of sex trafficking, was denied bail and will remain in custody. This was reported by Reuters.
“U.S. Magistrate Judge Robin Tarnofsky denied Combs’ bail and granted the prosecutor’s request to maintain pretrial detention,” the report said.
Prosecutors said the rapper and producer used his business empire, including his record label Bad Boy Entertainment, to transport sex workers, both men and women, across state lines to participate in recorded sex performances called “Freak Offs.”
Combs’ attorney, Mark Agnifilo, called the sexual activity what prosecutors described as consensual.
P. Diddy faces up to life in prison plus a minimum of 15 years if convicted on three counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation of persons for the purpose of prostitution.
Prosecutors said the producer seduced the women by giving them drugs, promising financial support and romantic relationships, then using secret recordings of the women’s sex acts as “collateral” to ensure their silence and sometimes threatening them with a gun.
Former porn actress Adria English in July accused Combs in human trafficking and violence. She demanded $50 billion in compensation from him. After that, accusations started coming from other women.
