Actor Oleg Kassin told socialbites.ca in an interview that Soviet films taught him to honor his parents, respect his elders, love his Motherland and be ready to defend it.

Kassin noted that he even tried to volunteer for the war in Afghanistan. The artist first applied to the school, then to the military registration and enlistment office, but was not accepted.

“Thank God I didn’t get there because I don’t think I’d make it back alive. Back then I wanted to be a hero, now I just want to be a human being,” the actor shared.

Kassin said he loved Soviet war movies as a child.

“I really loved watching war films, especially as a child. But they had no influence on me as an actor, because as an actor I was first influenced by teachers and then by direct work and communication with actors and directors,” the artist noted.

Kassin’s filmography includes more than 100 works. He starred in such projects as “DMB”, “Liquidation”, “The Man Who Saved the World”, “Maestro”.
