Actor Sergei Belogolovtsev admitted in the program “Secret to a Million” that his youngest son Evgeniy was born with cerebral palsy.
Belogolovtsev said his wife’s pregnancy was proceeding normally. Since there was no ultrasound at the time, the couple did not know they were having twins. One son was born without problems, the second with special needs. Evgeniy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot at birth.
According to Belogolovtsev, Tetralogy of Fallot is one of the most complex and difficult to treat heart changes. He said that there is a very high probability that he will not have a child. The actor said that doctors are preparing him and his wife for the worst outcome.
“There was no hope that he would survive. It was a kind of black hole,” the artist shared.
Belogolovtseva is outraged when people call her son’s illness a “test” from the Almighty for her and her wife.
“I want to send in response and say: I do not need tests, give me a healthy child!” – noted the actor.
After the birth of his son, the artist was unemployed for six months in order to support his wife in everything. Belogolovtsev admitted that he had a very hard time with this period. According to the actor, in moments of despair he thought about leaving the family.
“But it was impossible for me to leave. But at the same time, I do not blame the men who could not stand it and left. A person cannot stand it if he is not a hero and I am not a hero a hundred times. I just had more strength, I survived,” said the artist.
