–You’ve been on the ‘When Now’ tour for almost two months, how is it going so far?
-I’m fine, I’m glad it turned out, and I think people like it. It is a very difficult year to fill because we play in larger venues than last year, but the concerts are very busy. That atmosphere in the front rows and that atmosphere of the concerts had disappeared last year.
– You return to earth to touch badajoz. What do you expect from this concert and how do the people of Extremadura welcome you?
-Imagine, it’s great because after all these years people feel it belongs to them especially with Extremoduro. I hope it will be a good concert, I’m sure it will be.
–Did you want to go back?
-We have a super spacious wardrobe. We try to balance the songs, not to change them too much, but to take them into our own mood and make the band a little bit our own as it is now. We also played songs from Robe’s first two albums and the entire ‘Mayéutica’. But yes, we change songs from Exremoduro because they have a lot of time, they got a lot of notes and I do not deny them. Of course, I like to play the newest ones more, but when you play these songs at concerts, it makes sense. When you see how people enjoy them and the beautiful vibes there.
Do people know more old words than new ones?
-Yes, you cannot compare traditional songs like ‘Salir’, ‘Jesucristo García’ or ‘Puta’ with new songs. But what I’ve noticed is that people love ‘Mayéutica’ and appreciate how everyone sings it and freaks out. Of course we really like to play, but as many people have told me, you can’t compare the songs out there with the songs that have been a part of the soundtrack of their lives.
-The tour is about 40 concerts, how do you carry this activity after covid?
-Right now my body is resisting, but now I’m 60 years old and it’s not the same as before. Traveling is the worst thing because there are very long weekends. It’s not like walking around and sleeping in hotels every day though, it’s more bearable and makes you perform concerts more rested and better.
What are the differences between the robe of 20 or 30 years ago and the robe of today?
-There is and I’m happy with it. You have to evolve, you can’t be stuck with the same thing. The world is changing and you need to adapt and know where your feet are. This is my natural way of seeing, I don’t understand what this type of music likes and I still go on. I see that you always have to try, experiment and do new things.
-With so much experience behind you, what dream do you have left to fulfill?
-I don’t set goals for myself, my goal is to be there every day, to keep making songs, and now I’m lucky to have new songs, so I’m very happy and want to enter the venue to play. with them. I’m in a good composing phase now and there is material to make an album for next year.
-A message to the people of Badajoz.
-I hope they have a good time, enjoy the moment and it will be a unique experience for them.
