Opera is co-written with artificial intelligence created in Dresden

The Semperoper Dresden theater on September 3 will show Chasing Waterfalls, the multimedia opera created by director Sven Soren Beyer and artificial intelligence. This has been reported “Magazine. Theatre”.

The main part of the piece was composed by composer Angus Lee, and the Berlin-based Sonic Experiences kling klang klong studio completed the composition with a scene from a neural network.

The plot of the production is based on the story of a girl who finds herself in a virtual world where she meets her digital twins. The role of the main character will be performed by singer Eir Inderhaug. Artificial intelligence will also “sing” one of the parties.

In addition, the audience will have a real waterfall on stage and an eight-meter sculpture made of LED panels that will embody artificial intelligence. Following its premiere at the theater in Dresden, the opera will be screened at the New Vision Arts Festival in Hong Kong in November 2022.
