British-American Oscar-winning screenwriter and producer David Seidler passed away in New Zealand. In this respect reports Deadline.

Seidler’s representative said the 86-year-old screenwriter died while fishing. The cause and circumstances of death are still unknown.

Seidler won an Oscar and BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay for his 2010 film The King’s Speech about the British King George VI.

David Seidler also wrote scripts for the TV series “General Hospital”, “Underworld” and “Days of Our Lives”, the films “Dancers in the Dark”, “The Gold Rush”, “The King and I” and others.

Seidler was born in London in 1937, his family died during World War II. He moved to the United States after the outbreak of World War II. Seidler’s relatives who remained in Europe died as a result of the Holocaust.
