In the near future, a new educational institution will be opened in China on the basis of the Moscow State Conservatory named after PI Tchaikovsky and one of the Chinese universities. This will be a full-fledged educational institution where Russian teachers will serve as teachers, Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Russian President’s special representative for international cultural cooperation, said in an interview. An agreement was signed with the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory to establish a conservatory in China. The Russian representative stated that this will be an independent educational institution, not just a branch. Shvydkoy added that the project is a serious, long-term educational effort supported by the Chinese leadership. According to him, the teachers will be graduates of the Moscow Conservatory and familiar with traditional Russian teaching methods, which are the pillars of world musical culture.

Shvydkoy noted that anyone can enter the new conservatory, but it will generally be aimed at a Chinese audience.

In his meeting with journalists, the special representative emphasized that this project is of particular importance within the scope of the Cross-Cultural Years between Russia and China, planned for 2024-2025 by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
