The 150th anniversary of the Russian Union of Theater Employees will be celebrated at the state level. The decree on celebrating the anniversary of the organization was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Document published On the official Internet portal of legal information.
In accordance with the decree, the first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, was appointed chairman of the organizing committee to prepare and celebrate the anniversary.
The Russian Union of Theater Employees is one of the oldest creative unions in the country. It was founded in 1876. People’s Artist of the USSR Mikhail Ulyanov became the president of the renewed union in 1986. In 2021, the chairman of the organization was People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Kalyagin.
At the extraordinary congress of the STD in December 2023, theater and cinema artist Vladimir Mashkov was elected president of the union. Conductor Valery Gergiev became co-chairman of the organization. Vakhtangov Theater Director Kirill Krok was appointed vice president.
The union brings together theater artists from all over the country. Its main goals are to promote the development of theatrical art, provide assistance to Russian theaters and theater schools, develop Russian and international theatrical relations, promote the protection of social, legal and professional interests of creative workers.
