Chechen director’s film will be shown at the festival in Switzerland

The movie “Looking for a Caged Bird” will be screened at the festival in Switzerland. Telegram channel reports this “Sokurov Island”.

The project was included in the feature film competition program of the 22nd International Human Rights Festival and Forum held in Geneva. Viewers will see the project on March 9 and 14.

The film by Chechen director Malika Musaeva Alexander Sokurov, a graduate of the Caucasian workshop, was released in the Russian Federation on October 12, 2023.

The film had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2023. The Russian premiere of the film took place at the International Film Festival “Spirit of Fire”, where the film won the award of the first competition in Russia. Leading actress Khadija Bataeva received the Alexander Abdulov Award for best actress.

In April 2022, Musaeva’s film was rejected from screening at the Cannes Film Festival. The main character of the film is Chechen Yakha, who dreams of leaving their hometown after graduating from school with his friend Medina and going to the big world to start a new life.
