Singer Jennifer Lopez opened up about intimate partner violence in her new musical film, “This Is Me… Now,” streaming on Prime Video. In this respect he is writing Diversity portal.
The musical film includes songs from J.Lo’s first studio album in ten years. In the announcement of the film, it was claimed that the singer showed “the path to love with her own eyes” and that the video included dance and game numbers.
In one of the dance numbers, having gone through a painful breakup (here the audience saw a hint of a breakup with Ben Affleck), the singer finds a new relationship. She dances with a man in a glass house and the man becomes aggressive before punching her in the face. The house collapses and Lopez screams “To hell with Libra!” he shouts.
When asked about the inspiration behind this number, Lopez was evasive.
“The idea of a sardan house is about how we get into toxic relationships. Trauma and patterns follow you from the past you don’t yet understand. And so you make compromises in relationships that you never imagined possible, you allow people to treat you in ways you never thought you would allow. “And of course, this happened to me too,” he said.
In her 2014 memoir, True Love, Lopez stated that she was already in an abusive relationship, but emphasized that her partner was not physically violent.
