Spanish murals depicting Parliament Sabotage (Ondárroa, Basque Country) and zero (Fene, Galicia) was awarded the ‘Street Art Cities’ award in the Imapcto and World’s Best Mural categories respectively. Mural of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi nominated
Work ‘reproductive‘, located in the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi in Barcelona, was also nominated for the 2023 Innovation category, just six months after its premiere.
The painting is located behind the altar of the basilica and shows a woman holding a child in her arms. According to Jordi Sacasas, the archivist and curator of the basilica, this is a work that can accommodate many interpretations such as “Mediterranean refugee crisis”, “image of the virgin”. The basilica archivist emphasizes that this is a proposal with Christian values, in order to remember that Pi is an “open community”.
