The monument to People’s Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy (1934 – 2021) was unveiled at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow. This was reported by RIA News.
The monument is made of granite slab with an Orthodox cross carved in the middle. Lists the names of movies and plays in which the actor acted. In front of the stove there is a bust of the folk artist himself.
Cinemagoers of the 60s remembered the actor for his roles in the film adaptations of Alexander Green’s “Scarlet Sails”, Vasily Aksenov’s “Colleagues” and Leo Tolstoy’s novels “War and Peace” and “Anna Karenina”. After filming the film “Seventeen Moments of Spring” he played three more times in film adaptations of Yulian Semenov’s works: “Leader”, “Petrovka, 38” and “Ogareva, 6.”
In August 2022, on City Day in Gelendzhik, the grand opening of the bust of the People’s Artist of Russia Vasily Lanovoy took place. This was announced by the mayor of the city, Alexey Bogodistov. As explained in the local administration, Lanovoy considered himself “one hundred percent citizen of Gelendzhi.”
Previously at the Vakhtangov Theater opened monument to artists Lanovay, Etush and Yakovlev.
