Berry and the Mothership team had already completed most of the shooting on the project, but extensive reshoots were required to bring the project to its logical conclusion. Netflix decided not to continue production and shelved the film.

In the science fiction film, Berry played a woman who discovers an extraterrestrial object under her house a year after her husband disappears. Matthew Charman (Bridge of Spies) wrote and directed The Mothership. This would be his feature-length directorial debut. The cast also included Molly Parker, John Ortiz and Omari Hardwick.
