The Alicante Film Festival announced this Wednesday the name of the honorary award of its newest section: Fashion Cinemaan award that recognizes costume designers’ work on film. Designer Clara Bilbaowinning three Goya awards, will receive this award for her career as a costume designer in films and other audiovisual productions. The festival announced its award at the Alicante City stand at the Madrid International Tourism Fair Fitur.
Member of the Alicante Tourism Council, Main Poquet; Director of the Alicante Film Festival, Vincent Seva Designer and coordinator of the Fashion Cinema department, Rosario PuñalesHe was responsible for presenting this award, which is the first of the honorary titles announced in the new edition of this film competition, which will celebrate its 21st anniversary. Between 18 – 21 May 2024.
Clara Bilbao could not attend the event but sent a thank you video for this award: “I am very honored and happy to receive this award.”. Alicante International Film Festival Director Vicente Seva explained the importance of this section and costume designers. “We created this new section last year, honoring designer Sonia Grande, a regular in Woody Allen films. Bringing visibility to a profession that is not always recognized and this is very important because costumes are not only great at defining characters but also play an important role in immersing the audience in the story. Clara Bilbao graduated from the Higher Center for Fashion Design at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, specializing in Stage Costume Design. She started working as a film technician 30 years ago. He took part in more than 50 film projects and TV series.
He received awards throughout his career three Goya awards From the Film Academy: in 2012 gorsegoverning Mateo Gil Starring Sam Shepard and Stephen Rea; in 2016 Nobody wants the nightgoverning Isabel CoixetStarring Juliette Binoche and Gabriel Byrne and released in 2019.
