Rick Wakeman, keyboardist of British prog band Yes, has admitted that the upcoming tour will be his last. His words are delivered by the online portal Louder sound.
“I plan to incorporate the best of what I have done in the past into the programme. Plus a few new surprises. Maybe I will have a guest to join me on this occasion,” Wakeman said.
The 74-year-old musician admitted that he always planned to finish the tour by his 77th birthday. According to the keyboardist, he will not be touring either as a group or solo.
Wakeman joined Yes in 1971 and served the group until 2004. During this time, he managed to participate in the recording of eight studio albums of the group. Additionally, Wakeman worked with David Bowie as well as Elton John and Cat Stevens on the Space Oddity album. In 2021, the musician was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
