The short film ‘Wiper’, directed by Alberto Mielgo and produced by Leo Sánchez, won the Oscar for the best animated short film. At the 94th Academy Awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood.

The one for ‘Wiper’ was Alberto Mielgo’s first nomination. She already has four Emmy awards and two Annie’s on her record.. Best animated short film, also nominated for ‘Affairs Of The Art’ directed by Joanna Quinn; ‘The Beast’ by Hugo Covarrubias; ‘Peti Roja’ by Dan Ojari and Michael Please; and Boxballet by Russian Anton Dyakov.

The award was announced before the gala started because it was one of eight categories. ABC has decided to exclude live coverage of the ceremony. Other categories affected are best fiction short film, best documentary short film, best editing, best make-up and hairstylist, best original music, best production design and best sound.
