Russian online cinemas did not see the expected demand for TV series produced in Turkey and Korea, which they began to buy in bulk with the departure of Hollywood’s largest film studios from Russia after the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. This was reported by RBC referring to representatives of the largest Russian video platforms.

According to Kinopoisk Pro Index, last year, among the interest shown by Russians to all TV series, the share of interest in Turkish TV series was approximately 8%, while the share of interest in Korean TV series was around 3.2%.

At the same time, Premier Online Cinema Deputy General Manager Makar Kozhukhov noted that Turkish content has potential and is popular among a certain category of viewers. Viewers were especially interested in the TV series “Kapımı Çal”.

According to Kozhukhov, Korean dramas have not become popular with Russian viewers, probably due to the “huge difference between cultures”. Premier’s only high-viewing project from South Korea was the animation for Larva children. Premier has no plans to expand the presence of Korean dramas in its library.

Kozhukhov announced that in 2023, the majority of Premier users (97%) prefer Russian movies and TV series.

Previously recognizedOne in five Russians watched the series “The Boy’s Word”.
