Screenwriter Steven Knight has confirmed that there will be a sequel of the same name in the Peaky Blinders series. He said this in an interview Radio Hours.
Knight also actually wrote the film’s script; He only has the last pieces left.
“Right now I’m just working on the final parts. I sit down at my laptop and start writing. It’s a bit like a dream for me. Then you read it again and think, ‘This is really good, but where did it come from?’ – Knight shared.
The screenwriter noted that the shooting of the feature film based on Peaky Blinders is planned for mid-2024.
There are no details about the cast yet. It is unknown whether Cillian Murphy will return to his role as Thomas Shelby.
The original series ended in 2022 after six seasons. Murphy has since stated that he would like to appear in the film if it has “a story to tell”.
Peaky Blinders is about the criminal underworld of Birmingham in the 1920s. At the center of the story is the Shelby clan, which has become one of the most influential and cruel in the city. A distinctive feature of the gang were knives sewn into the visors of their hats.
