It coincides with its 100th anniversary “The altar of Master Pedro” by Manuel de FallaThe Letter Box of the Cervantes Institute was opened with a copy of the book ‘How many trumpets sound’ instead of the manuscript of the legendary score left ‘in memory’ of the composer.
The manuscript in question, handwritten in ink and signed by the composer, was placed in box 1223 by his family in 2019, and this legacy was transferred to Cervantes by the composer’s Foundation and the Granada City Council until December 2023.
The manuscript of ‘Master Pedro’s Altarpiece’, inspired by a chapter of Don Quixote, was transferred until the end of 2023 and has now been replaced by a facsimile reproduction.
This copy will be accompanied by the book ‘How many trumpets sound’, prepared by Alfredo Aracil, curator of the Manuel de Falla Archive Foundation, to commemorate the centenary of the stage premiere of ‘El retablo de Maese Pedro’. In Paris in 1923.

“Falla, as a leading writer, knew how to dialogue with different traditions of modernity and the avant-garde,” said Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute.
