The Yandex Music music service, included in the Yandex Plus subscription, plans to add one more function – the ability to make donations (monetary donations) for artists. A representative of the Yandex company announced this in an interview with the newspaper. “Vedomosti”.
The commission earned from such donations will not be retained by the platform.
Additionally, Yandex Music plans to increase the fee paid to musicians for publishing new content at its own expense. The company representative added that 100 million rubles will be allocated for these purposes in 2024.
These new features aim to provide more opportunities for artists, especially young people, to release new music, as well as attract more users to listen to music on the service. A Yandex representative noted that the more often artists release new works, the more attention they attract, which in turn increases interest in streaming services.
The music streaming market in Russia decreased by 30-50% to 5-7 billion rubles in 2022. The main reasons for this decrease are the discontinuation of foreign broadcasting services, large companies and payment systems.
