Peter in the 90s through the eyes of a child

creators”difficult childhood”- Major Grom: The prequel to the movie The Plague Doctor – they said the original script for the special was invented separately from the existing comics, was written a year ago, and was originally conceived in the form of a short film. But gradually the story of Igor Grom’s childhood (more precisely, its background) turned into a full-length movie – the timing will be 80 minutes. The authors emphasize that the new chapter of the Thunder universe will complete the first movie, but can also be watched separately.

When talking about the special scene, franchise director Oleg Trofim stressed that Grom’s ’90s native Peter will have distinctive markings from that era, but this is still an alternate version of the Northern capital seen through a child’s eyes.

“We get a sublime of evidence from the era of the 90s – early 2000s, but the image of Peter will be different, because it will be presented through the children’s perception of little Igor Grom. We call it “looking through rose-tinted glasses,” so it will be the pink key in the movie. Moreover, some episodes are shot with old VHS cameras, our reference to that period,” he said.

The personal space of Little Thunder also turned out to be unusual – his apartment, where he lives with his father Konstantin, who is also a police major. The living space of the future warrior against evil, recreated in Lenfilm, is hardly different from the first movie.

At the same time, there was a place for the bright qualities of mass culture of the 90s: on the walls of the apartment there are posters of the X-Files series and the Terminator action movie, the table is filled with coloring books and finished with a plastic rainbow felt-tip pens – one of the main toys of that time.

Who plays the little Igor Grom, whose childhood father and hero was the Kievstoner?

To date, the creators of “Difficult Childhood” have not revealed details about the upcoming movie’s cast. But now the cards are on the table: young Igor Grom is played by 14-year-old Kai Getz (who stole the hearts of the audience in Drama Tell Her), his friend, whose role in the first episode was played by Kievstoner. , 13-year-old Vladimir Yaganov. Also, Igor’s father, Konstantin Grom, is introduced to the plot, played by Sergey Marin, familiar to many from the historical TV series “Catherine” and “The Cathedral”.

Talking about the project, Marin noted that Difficult Childhood is more than a kind of story. According to him, this is also a look at the formation of a difficult relationship between father and son in the formation of Igor, who inherited many character traits from his parents.

“This is a story about being and growing, friendship, acceptance and love. My character has one thing I share: a desire to do his job with the utmost honesty. In this role, along with the film crew, I had a chance to tell who Igor Grom would grow up to be and be so idealistic and where the desire to make the world a better place came from, ”Marin shared.

Kai Getz, who plays Thunder Jr., agrees. Kai described how he saw his hero: St. Petersburg crime, but in childhood – a fragile and defenseless child.

“Little Igor Grom is a modest, not always self-confident man who constantly takes risks. Before shooting, I watched The Plague Doctor and looked at Igor: how he came to adulthood, how he expresses his emotions, what spark and demeanor he has. In “Difficult Childhood” we will see how Igor Grom was formed, how his relationship with his father was. How she tried to be closer to him, how she could not do it because of her father’s job – and how can even a single word break the unstable balance between them, ”said the artist.

Fedor Prokopenko, a police colonel and future boss of Igor Grom, will also appear on the screen. Played by Alexei Maklakov in The Plague Doctor. In Difficult Childhood, he will appear not as a boss, but as a colleague of Konstantin Grom, the role is played by St. Petersburg actor Alexei Vedernikov will be played.

Where and when can the movie be watched?

The movie, which was created with the support of Kinopoisk, is planned to be released in the next winter season. The producers of the film, Artem Gabrelyanov and Mikhail Kitaev, noted that initially the premiere was intended to be shown online only – only in Kinopoisk, but at the moment they do not exclude the fate of the film.

The authors also plan to release a separate comic about the events of “Difficult Childhood” that will introduce fans of the franchise more closely to Grom Jr.’s childhood and help illuminate anticipation for the prequel.

In addition, Gabrelyanov and Kitaev do not exclude the international distribution of the tape. “We’re making a movie that lives at the box office for more than a day, it’s part of the culture. There is a large Russian-speaking audience that does not live in Russia, but for whom access to Russian culture is important. Now there are restrictions, but when the picture is ready, when there is an opportunity to buy it and show it, they will buy it and show it,” the producers said.
