According to him, the words about the end of his career were taken out of context. As the director stated, he said that there is no opportunity to work in Russia at the moment.
“I don’t have the opportunity to make films, I don’t have the opportunity to teach. That’s what I was talking about. Impossible conditions for life and work are being created,” the director said.
The agency’s correspondent also asked Sokurov if he would support his students in their directorial work. “For young directors it’s even worse,” he said in response. According to the director, his students are not funded.
