From construction to shuttle
Shatalin was born in Krasnoyarsk in 1960. He played in the local band “Illusion” in his hometown.
In 1980 he entered the construction department of the Leningrad Institute of Railway Engineers. He founded the group “Democritus’ Well” in the northern capital and wrote both music and lyrics.
“I needed to write some poetry,” he said, “even though I didn’t feel the slightest inclination to do so.”
Having received his diploma, Shatalin went on assignment to Riga, but soon returned to Leningrad and in 1983, together with Svyatoslav Zaderiy, founded the Alisa collective. The band’s first guitarist was Shatalin.
The musician took part in the creation of albums “BlockIsland”, “Coven”, “For Those Who Fell from the Moon”, “Dark Mark”. Fans of the band know him as Shuttle.
In 1988, during the recording of the album “The Sixth Forester”, Shatalin briefly left the group due to a disagreement with Kinchev and founded the group “Kale 30”, but even before the first concerts he returned to “Alice”.
After “Alice”
Shatalin finally left the rock band in 2003. He said that his creative interests with Kinchev diverged.
“We recorded a great album “Solstice” and “Dance”. After that, Kostya became interested in industrial and modern heavy styles, so we started playing something similar. “I really tried, but I’m a blues guitarist and it didn’t work for me.” explained leaving.
At the same time, there were persistent rumors in the musical community and among fans of the group that the reason for Shatalin’s departure was Kinchev’s constant nagging.

After breaking up with Alice, Shatalin started his solo career. She released her album she in 2007. “8 melodies for electric piano”. Several tracks from this album were included in the soundtrack of the movie “A Beautiful Tomorrow”. The musician’s last performance with a solo program took place in 2017.
