Roman, the son of pop singer Evgeny (Zhenya) Belousov, decided to receive half of his father’s inheritance 26 years after his death. In this respect RIA News said the man’s lawyer, Sergei Zhorin.

“We filed a lawsuit in the Moscow Lefortovo Court, Roman wants recognition of his right to his share – this is half of the inheritance mass – and the transfer of intellectual property rights,” explained Zhorin.

Zhorin said that the film crew making a movie about Belousov approached Roman and asked for permission to use the songs in the movie. It turned out that the inheritance of the copyrights of the songs was not formalized.

“Belousov’s daughter Kristina and Roman went to the notary together so that Roman could inherit, but Kristina’s mother intervened in the incident […] and said that Roman had no right to anything,” Zhorin explained, adding that Belousov’s rights were therefore violated.

His defense states in the case that Roman was four years old at the time of Yevgeny Belousov’s death and, as a minor at the time, still had the right to inherit.

Zhenya Belousov died in 1997. His property went entirely from his ex-wife Elena Khudik to his daughter Christina. Roman was born out of wedlock, but paternity was officially established in 1998 by the Dolgoprudnensky court in the Moscow region, it comes from the case.
