Georgian and Russian theater and opera director Temur Chkheidze has died at the age of 78, the TV company reported. “Rustavi 2”.
“The director devoted half a century to the theater. Temur Chkheidze is the author of about 80 dramas, operas and television performances, including theater for young people, ”said Temur Chkheidze.

Temur Chkheidze graduated from the Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi Theater Institute and after graduation worked in the Drama Theater (Zugdidi city), Tbilisi Youth Theater and Shota Rustaveli Theatre.
He became People’s Artist of the Georgian SSR in 1981 and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation in 1994.
From 1991 to 2013 he collaborated with the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Theater. Chkheidze served as theater director, chief director, artistic director and director. He also staged works in some world venues such as La Scalla and Metropolitan Opera.
