“Fantastic Beasts” creator admits he is done with “Harry Potter” spinoffs

Fantastic Beasts director David Yates says Warner Bros. has no plans to continue the prequel series. His words are quoted Guard.

“The whole thing was like, ‘Let’s park and talk for a day,’” the director said.

Yates directed four of the eight Harry Potter films, as well as the Fantastic Beasts trilogy. He noted that filming the final episode of the “Dumbledore’s Secrets” prequel took place during the pandemic — “it was fun but difficult.” After the tape was released, the team decided they needed to take a break and calm down.

The director admitted that he was surprised by the words of author JK Rowling, who announced five films based on Fantastic Beasts in 2016. He stated that this option was not initially considered.

“The idea that there would be five Fantastic Beasts movies came as a complete surprise to most of us,” he said.

The eight films in the Harry Potter series are produced by Warner Bros. took over. Adapted from the books of British author JK Rowling. Also in wide release was a series of “Fantastic Beasts” films that take place before the main saga. The final episode of Dumbledore’s Secret premiered on April 6, 2022.
