The press service of the Mossovet Theater stated that, at the request of the actor, they removed the artist Alexander Domogarov from the main role in the play “Tartuffe, or the Deceiver”. This was reported by RIA News.
“The management of the Mossovet Theater met the request of actor Alexander Domogarov, who wanted to be exempt from participating in the play “Tartuffe” due to his work on other projects,” the cultural institution said.

Their decision was preceded by a rehearsal of “Tartuffe” on September 29 at the Mossovet Theater, but at that moment Domogarov was at the premiere of the play “Masquerade” with his participation in the Soviet Army Theater.
Later, Domogarov agreed with the leadership of the Moscow City Council on the time of the rehearsal, but after the rehearsal the artist was sent to the directorate. There he was handed a piece of paper demanding that he explain why he was neither in the theater nor in the country on September 13th.
As mk.ru noted, Domogarov was at the Russia-Cyprus Film Festival at the invitation of Alina Radchenko, Counselor of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Cyprus.
In its document, the Moscow City Council emphasized that the artist was leaving for a country “which is on the list of foreign states and territories that have committed hostile actions against the Russian Federation, Russian legal entities and individuals…”
