Sales of Slavic fantasies in Russia more than doubled (121 percent) compared to 2021. The previous wave of popularity of books in this genre gained momentum in the 2000s, writes the publication “News”

At the same time, sales increased by 58% compared to 2022.

The reason for the increase in sales was the release of a series of films of the same genre – “Yaga”. Nightmare in the Dark Forest”, “Baba Yaga Saves the World” and “In Pike Order”. The best-selling books belong to Ulyana Cherkasova, the author of the novels that formed the basis of the films. They grew 10 times. At the same time, another popular author Anastasia Andrianova also doubled her book sales Interest in the works of Maria Semenova, Marina Kozinaki and Roman Papsuev is also increasing.

It is noted that the increase in sales follows the increase in circulation – in 2022, 92% more books in the Slavic fantasy genre were published than in 2021, and in 2023, 50% more than in 2022.
