Nizhny Novgorod State Theater for Young Spectators will host the Mariupol Republican Academic Russian Drama Theater tour.
Mariupol Russian Drama Theater will present two performances to Nizhny Novgorod audiences: a musical children’s fairy tale based on Vladimir Orlov’s play “The Golden Hen” and a production based on Anton Chekhov’s one-act play “Vaudevils”.
“The Golden Chicken” is a cheerful, gentle fairy tale about childlike spontaneity and unconditional love, immersing you in the atmosphere of a carefree childhood.
One-act joke plays called “Anniversary”, “Bear” and “Proposal”, in which Chekhov’s play “Vaudeville” is staged, have not left the stage for more than 100 years. Viewers will see how a serious day at the bank turns into a comedy, matchmaking nearly goes awry due to long-standing property disputes, and the resolution of a financial problem unexpectedly leads to passionate love.
Mariupol Russian Drama Theater will go on tour in Nizhny Novgorod for the first time.
In the summer of 2023, the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, as part of measures to support new regions of Russia, transferred an 18-seater bus to the Mariupol Russian Drama Theater, which allowed the team to expand its touring activities.
As part of the tour, the theater team has already visited Kirov and Cheboksary.
