The peak date of the Orionids’ starfall has been announced

The meteor shower, which appears to come from the constellation Orion, will peak on the night of October 21-22. This was stated by Moscow’s press service. planetarium.

“At its peak, the shower produced approximately 20 meteors per hour,” the publication explains.

According to the planetarium, conditions will be suitable for observing starfalls in 2023; 15-20 meteors per hour are expected to fly at a speed of approximately 60 km/h.

“Observing the Orionids is possible in clear weather from midnight to dawn over the southeastern horizon,” astronomers advise.

The report says flying meteors often leave bright trails behind. Orionid meteors are generally light in color, but also include shades of red, blue-green, yellow and orange.
