Serbian director Emir Kusturica promised to shoot the movie “Crime Without Punishment”, adapted from Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Russian novel. This was reported by RIA News.

He will call his version of the film adaptation “Crime Without Punishment.” Shooting will take place in Russia with Russian actors.

“I wanted to make this movie in Serbia, but I think I will make Raskolnikova and Sonya Marmeladova here. I will finish the script.” Good Russian actors and actresses will star in this movie. “This will be my first film in Russian,” he said.

Kusturica admitted that he wanted to make this movie 20 years ago and refused to play the lead role of Johnny Depp.

“When I met Johnny Depp, he said he wanted to play Raskolnikov. I told him it was impossible because I wanted to do it in Serbian. “He was upset and did not understand why I said this,” the director recalled, acknowledging that Depp was ready to act in any language.

Additionally, Kusturica announced his intention to make a film based on the novel “Laurel” by Yevgeny Vodolazkin. Vodolazkin will prepare the script of the film himself.
