The 96-year-old queen could no longer move freely, by the end of filming she was tired and could not cope with the main thrust of her role. When the animated bear cub offered Elizabeth II a marmalade sandwich, claiming that he was always with her, Elizabeth should have replied, “Me too,” and retrieved the same sandwich from her purse.

According to Farnaby, the director asked the queen to speak a little more softly.

“Think about how you talk to your grandchildren,” he said. “Yes, of course I’m sorry,” the actor replied.

Farnaby, who played the role of royal butler, did not believe the queen could handle the task.

“I said give up, stop, we won’t achieve anything. And he says – no, a few more shots. “When everything went well, it was really sweet and funny,” he admitted.

When Farnaby complimented the queen’s acting skills, Elizabeth II retorted: “Well, I do that all the time.”

Video clip filmed at the Palace of Windsor – work on it continued in strict secrecy for several months. The video was produced by BBC Studios and Heyday Films/StudioCanal.
