Ukrainian clown Sergei Gladkov dies at 60, official says society Video comic magazine “Pun” in the social network “VKontakte”. The artist’s cause of death and other details were not reported.

The man in “Village of Fools”

Gladkov was born in 1963 in Kharkov, Ukraine, studied at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics of the Odessa Polytechnic Institute and later began working as a clown. He also completed directing and mime courses.

In 1985 he founded his first clown troupe, Parthenon, and two years later he founded the Magazin Fu trio together with Vadim Nabokov and Tatyana Ivanova. Nine years later, the group came together with the duet “La Dolce Vita”, which also included Yuri Stytskovsky and Alexey Agopyan – this is how the “Kalambur” group and the television magazine of the same name appeared.

The program was broadcast on ORT TV channel from 1996 to 2001. (now Channel One)), was later closed. Later, in different years, the episodes were shown on TNT, “Pepper” and “Che” channels.

The television magazine consisted of several sections; one of the most famous was “Village of Fools”, which played on motifs and clichés of Ukrainian and Russian folklore. The heroes of the series are a married couple, Man (Sergey Gladkov) and Dad (Tatyana Ivanova) and also Sailor (Vadim Nabokov) and Misha the bear (Alexey Agopyan). In 2003, together with Vadim Nabokov, he created 62 episodes of the cartoon “SOS” about the Man and the Sailor from the “Village of Fools”, each lasting about a minute.

“I am now moving more to the status of a sound engineer,” Gladkov said in 2020.
