Pianist Elisey Mysin reacted to his victory in the international piano competition held in the USA. His words are quotes TASS.
“I wasn’t expecting it. “It was a bit shocking for me because I was competing with people older than me,” the musician said.
12-year-old Mysin was awarded the First International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition. The event took place in Nashville.
According to the young musician, it was necessary to play Chopin’s work for about 20 minutes in his age group. Therefore, he “didn’t see the point” in flying to the US to perform for such a short time.
“There was no point in flying to America for 20 minutes. The organizers of the competition invited us to join the senior group,” Mysin said.
The pianist received the audience award as well as the main award of the event. She competed in the age category with musicians between the ages of 16-22. Despite the age restriction, the participant was allowed to perform with older contestants. In the competition held on October 14 and 15, 26 participants reached the finals, among which Mysin was the only person representing Russia.
