Famous Iranian director and screenwriter Dariyush Mehrjui and his wife were found dead in their home in northern Iran, the agency reported. My Tasnim.
“On Saturday evening, the bodies of Dariush Mehrjui and his wife were found at home by their daughter, and the girl immediately contacted the police after learning that her parents were dead,” the publication said.
The director and his family lived in a private house in Iran’s Alborz province. According to the agency, the mother and father were found with beatings and cuts on their bodies by their daughters.
It was previously determined that death occurred as a result of asphyxiation along with blows and cuts. The bodies were sent to doctors to determine the exact cause of death.
Police interviewed witnesses to form an overall picture of the crime.
Iranian law enforcement spokesman Montazer Almahdi said the perpetrator will be found and brought to justice.
In 1971, Dariush Mehrjui was nominated for the Gold Award at the Moscow International Film Festival for the film Mister Naivety.
