Soviet and Ukrainian singer, People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR Nina Matvienko died at the age of 75, reported daughter of the artist Antonina on her page on the social network Instagram (the owner of the Meta company is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).
“My mother is dead,” the singer’s daughter wrote.
He did not specify the cause of death of the artist. Matvienko’s daughter said in her Instagram story that her farewell to her mother will take place on October 11 at 11:00 in the building of the Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
Refusing help from doctors
Ukrainian singer Natalya Mogilevskaya wrote on social networks that Matvienko refused the help of doctors shortly before his death:
“I felt that something serious was approaching. He offered help from doctors, but Nina Mitrofanovna refused. I want to thank you for a whole layer of Ukrainian culture. Thanks to your talent, sensitivity and femininity, you were able to bring such a beautiful and gentle face to Ukraine with your songs.”

With a song for life
Matvienko passed away two days before his 76th birthday. The artist was born on October 10, 1947 in the Zhitomir region of the Ukrainian SSR. She worked in the vocal studio of the Ukrainian Academic Folk Choir named after Grigory Verevka. He started his musical career in 1968 – he became the soloist of this group. Since 1991 he has been the soloist of the National Soloist Ensemble “Kiev Camerata”.
Matvienko won many singing competitions. In 1978 he became the laureate of the All-Ukrainian “Young Voices” competition, in 1979 he won the All-Union television competition “With a Song for Life”, in the same year he received the highest score in the World Folk Song. She won the competition in Bratislava and in 1985 she won the XII Competition in Moscow. She won the World Youth Festival and her students. She was awarded the Ukrainian SSR State Prize in 1988. Matvienko was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1979. She received this award at the age of 32. Euromaidan participant
After the coup in Ukraine in 2014, he criticized Euromaidan and cursed its leaders.
In the video published by Ukrainian Internet TV channel SK1, Matvienko stated that the change of power in the country was carried out in line with the personal interests of some politicians and oligarchs. The President of Ukraine at that time was Viktor Yanukovych.
“I kneel before God and shout: Cursed be you in the name of our sons, in the name of our children. I know who the enemies are; The damn elite, the three who bring people to the Square for their selfish interests. I will never forgive them for this,” Matvienko said, without specifying who exactly he meant.
Also in 2014, Matvienko actively participated in Maidan Nezalezhnosti events in Kiev and spoke against President Yanukovych.
