The movie “Empresses” will be released in Russia on October 26. This was reported by TASS.
The creators of the film position the project as a “documentary feature film”. It will be the sequel to Andrei Kravchuk’s “Peter I. The Last Tsar and the First Emperor” 2022.
The plot of “Empresses” focuses on Catherine I, Anna Ioannovna and the main character, Elizabeth I. The same Kravchuk became the director of the project. Actress Yulia Peresild played the role of Elizaveta Petrovna in the film. The project also featured Evgeniy Schwartz (“Karamora”), Ivan Kolesnikov (“Union of Liberation”), Anna Ukolova and Alexandra Veleskevich (“Major Grom: Plague Doctor”).
“Our film tells the story of how a young empire fell into the hands of women as a result of palace coups. Peter I pushed Russia forward, and this energy, this push allowed the country not only to survive, but also to acquire beauty and authority. The consultants of the project were the best historians specializing in this period. We shot in palaces, built pavilions, recreated dozens of costumes – as you know, only Elizaveta Petrovna did not wear the same outfit twice,” admitted the director of the film “Empresses”.
