The annual contemporary art festival “Here and Now” started in Moscow. As the organizers told socialbites.ca, “Here and Now” is being held outside the walls of the exhibition halls for the fifth time and the third time.
In total, more than a dozen artworks by contemporary artists from the capital and regions will be featured in the urban landscape.
“Today, the project covers both the center and remote areas of the metropolis. “Nodal points of public life (city squares, parks, cultural centers, transportation network facilities) become places where works are exhibited,” organizers said.
As project curator Anna Malik-Korolenkovaya explains, in 2023 special attention will be paid to the works of regional writers.
“In this project, the artists act from the position of both researchers of unusual urban environments and speakers of a new visual language. “Public art revitalizes and renews public spaces, allows you to go beyond the ordinary, speaks to powerful historical and emotional experiences, and engages the widest audience in this dialogue,” he explained.
