Singer-songwriter Anni B. Sweet formed a collaboration with the band Los Estanques. “The cozy bubble and the unexpected elephant”. In Prensa Ibérica, the woman from Malaga tells us all the secrets of this new musical project, in which they combine psychedelia, progressive rock, pop and seventies rhythms.
How did this musical collaboration with Los Estanques come about?
I knew their music, and they got to know me later. We talked on social networks and decided to make a song together. It would be a single song, like some kind of collaboration. From that moment on, we were very comfortable and loved both what I sent to Íñigo and what Íñigo sent me, we felt a super natural and super beautiful connection, so we decided that we should continue with that.
Was it difficult for you to connect musically at first?
It all unfolded extremely fluidly, so it was a surprise and a beautiful thing that still holds true today. Whenever we get together to make music, it happens naturally and we understand each other perfectly. As long as it is like this, I think we will continue to make music together for a long time.
What can you tell us about your collaborative album “Burbuja confortable y elefante inesperado”?
It’s kind of hard to talk about him because I always think it’s his job to listen to him, because telling him about it seems too restrictive to me. It’s a very special album for me and I also feel it as a very free work, it has no pretensions other than free songs, enjoyment and having a good time. It was a lot of fun when we got together to do it, and I think something good came out of it, and both Íñigo and I are very happy about it.
Did the inspiration for the songs come from both equally?
There were some songs that Iigo brought, some of which were mine. I would give these to her and then dress them. When we saw that we could make a bigger, longer album when we got together, we looked and said: ‘Oh, this song could be here too, it could be this one too’. It was like a mix of the two. There were songs I had already made for my next album and Íñigo did the same for hers, but seeing that they would fit here perfectly, we decided to get together and use them to decorate the entire album.
