Russian musician Yuri Loza, in an interview with socialbites.ca, said that singer Toto Cutugno, who died on August 22, has a rare talent for creating original and beautiful melodies. Loza also described Cutugno’s songs as cult, noting that the Italian singer “given biographies” to many artists.
“Toto Cutugno is a melodist from God. These do happen, but not often. People who seem to be able to make a melody out of the same notes, the same combinations. It seems that everything is side by side, everything is very close, but he managed to do it in such a way that it was original and beautiful. Now this is a very rare skill. Unfortunately it’s gone. His songs became iconic, cult. He gave a biography to many artists. For the same Joe Dassin, it is now impossible to imagine Joe Dassin without his songs. Many people should thank him. Almost everyone sang from him. Of course it’s sad that people like this leave but what can you do? Time is cruel,” he said.
