In the final phase of the M-Clan tours; They almost overlap with the previous one, which was supported by the most petit comité album. There was no special celebration for the Murcian group’s 30th anniversary (Sin Enchufe remained in 2 drawers) and they are now announcing a hiatus. During, Carlos Tarque presenting his second solo installment, with its premiere at the end of August, I’m back to burn you (a title that sounds like situationist, “with the Spanish Tarantino touch”), a preview of his second album, Volume 2, which will be released this fall, this time very much. Under the name Led Zeppelin, he is the producer of Carlos Raya, who has been very rock and has put his guitar at Tarque’s service, constantly but with some changes in sound. No one doubts that M-Clan is one of the Spanish rock bands. Throughout their long careers, they have gone through different phases and situations, although they have always maintained their impeccable stamp and unbreakable attitude. They are giving their last concert as this Friday.n Trips (La Manga), but fans will see the wait ease and Tarque’s new album will be much more than a consolation. We chatted with him.
M-Clan, you arrive at La Manga facing the final stage of the round. Did you really want to hit the road, join each other, or couldn’t you stop?
M-Clan has always been on tour. Maybe we stopped for 4-5 months at one time, but it’s gone now. Our life is the road.
Have you changed the tour in any way, is the repertoire different?
A few issues up or down. The classics dominate.
How are the musicians writing? It won’t be like your summers at the beach with your friends.
It’s really a summer with friends, that’s what we band members are like. We even find ourselves on the beach some nights.
In this 2023 you will be 30 years old. Is there anything prepared to celebrate this? How have these 30 years been for you?
There is nothing prepared. As you may remember, we are celebrating our 20th anniversary. More than half of my life M-Clan, I don’t understand any other way to live, we grew up and saw the world and society evolve from our ship.
Will you save M-Clan for a while? How was this last round?
Yes, now my solo project is coming and Ricardo also has a hand in musical production. We give very strong concerts, I wonder if the years have positioned us in a better and more respectable place. We are more grateful to the time and the people than ever before.
It’s been 7 years since Delta. When is the new studio album with original songs? What is the last song you composed?
Maybe a cover album will be released in the future. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for many years. The last theme composed is Wild Concert.
Now you have a preview of your new album as Carlos Tarque. You have already commented that it has classical, rock roots.
The single is called I’m Back I Came To See It Burned. It’s a very hard rock song with a psychopath road killer returning to blame as the lead. With a Spanish Tarantino touch.
Is it somehow constant?
Yes, constantly, but with news at the volume level and of course with new songs. Very rock and timeless.
Do you already have a title for this new album?
Volume 2.
Where and with whom did you record it? Are there any collaborations?
In the Carlos Raya studio, just like the first one. Chapo on bass and Coqui on drums; Carlos Raya himself on the guitar that I composed all the songs together. No collaborations.
In the current situation, are your words more pessimistic or optimistic? How are we angry? Are you angry at the news?
There is everything. It is true that in some letters there is a somewhat apocalyptic vision of what is going on in the world. It’s hard not to get angry when you watch the news and see how hate and intolerance are in vogue. But I believe this is just a passing fad.
It will definitely be a style comeback. How are you feeling? And what plans do you have after that? What will the tour be like?
We released a record in October and from November it is touring in theaters in cities that are important to us.
Clearly, the physical disk has lost weight in the music industry. What do you make of all this? How does it feel to record a record? Do you buy a lot?
In the end, I think the important thing is the songs and of course the direct contact; This is what I’m after. We belong to the album generation and that is why we will continue to be so. I only buy records and records, especially old ones.
We are in a time where there is so much room for all styles. Also for the rock?
Of course there is room for rock, it continues to fill stadiums, perhaps the style that has the most. If it’s going to disappear (which I doubt) it will be years from now. I don’t think I will ever see it.
What about Rollers, or even the Grand Canyon?
Fun projects for specific moments. Good memories for now.
When I saw Rod Stewart playing Maggie a few days ago, I thought she was going to come out from behind the scenes. would you like it?
I could have loved it and more in Murcia. We had an offer to build a Riazor with him in Coruña, but in the end it didn’t come true.
If Carlos Tarque is not a rock star, who is a rock star in Spain?
I am a rock singer. Stars in the night sky.
How do you conserve your energy?
I feel a passion for music and rock that goes beyond being a singer. I grew up worshiping the posters and records of musicians who were gods to me. This marks you for life. I think about it every time I go on stage.
