Oleg Tabakov’s Moscow theater debuted an updated version of the play “Passion for Bumbarash”. The Presidential Cultural Initiatives Fund, which helped organize the tour, reported that the premiere took place in the open space of the Tauric Chersonese State Museum-Reserve.

The first show, held on August 9, gathered 1.5 thousand viewers.

The artistic director of the theater, Vladimir Mashkov, addressed the audience before the show and thanked the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, and the people of the city for their warm welcome.

“The performance you will see today has a long and happy life. I will not say what it is about, everyone will understand it in their own way. I can only say that today is perceived differently from 1993. You will hear the wonderful works of Vladimir Dashkevich and Yuli Kim, if someone knows these songs, do not be shy and sing along! Oleg Pavlovich once said that applause for artists is like the flapping of wings of a plane lifting it!” said Mashkov.

Adapted from the plays and poems written by Yuli Kim to the music of Vladimir Dashkevich, “Passion for Bumbarash” first appeared on the Oleg Tabakov Theater poster in 1993 and did not leave the stage for 18 years.

After its closure, Oleg Tabakov dreamed of reviving the production.

Yesterday, the audience saw on the stage theater artists of all generations, from the public and honor to students of the Tabakov theater school.

Especially for the new performance, Kim and Dashkevich added new musical compositions to “Passion for Bumbarash”. On the performance, director Mashkov worked with artist Alexander Borovsky, choreographer Alla Sigalova, costume designer Marina Borovskaya, lighting designer Damir Ismagilov.

The performances of the Tabakov Theater in Chersonese will continue until August 13.
