Rublev’s “Trinity” transferred to Trinity-Sergius Lavra for free use

The “Trinity” icon by Russian artist Andrei Rublev has been transferred to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra for free use. In this respect stated Press service of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).

The signing of the corresponding document was carried out in St. Petersburg Metropolis building. The Tretyakov Gallery donated the icon to the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra for free use.

The document was signed by Patriarch Kirill and Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church described the event as historic.

“Trinity” XV. It was created in the first quarter of the century, in 1929 it was transferred to the State Tretyakov Gallery. On May 15, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered the icon in the Tretyakov Gallery to the Russian Orthodox Church.

Before the transfer, Andrey Rublev’s “Trinity” icon it will include Until July 19, in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, so that on July 18, believers can pray in front of this icon on the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
