Director Yuri Kvyatkovsky report socialbites.ca commented on the state of modern Russian theater. According to him, the theater against the background of the current political situation has stopped its development and is waiting for impulses.

“In the age of change, people are not very interested in theater, a few years ago it was different. Now there are other rules, other needs. At that moment the theater is quiet and watching, I have a feeling. He just observes and waits for some impulse to tell him how to improve. So, it’s a good time for the artists to scatter the stones, as they say,” said Kwiatkowski.

Yuri Kvyatkovsky – theater director, former chief director of the Russian State Circus, actor, teacher at the Moscow Art Theater School, director of the Brusnikin Workshop, assistant artistic director of the Praktika Theater. He is one of the founders of the independent creative acting and directing group Le Cirque de Charles La Tannes. He is now known as the director of unusual performances, most recently a musical and theatrical performance about the history of punks and the rap game True Crime.
