In a letter from his attorney, American Horror Story writer/producer Ryan Murphy threatened to take legal action against Warren Leith, the East strike leader of the Writers Guild of America and member of the Strike Implementation Committee. It has been reported THR.

This was due to Leith’s tweet that said team members of American Horror Story would be blacklisted if they refused to cross the Writers Guild strike line. Murphy’s rep immediately called the tweet “categorically incorrect” and “absolute bullshit”.

In response to the situation, Murphy’s attorney, Craig Emanuel, sent a letter to the WGA expressing his intention to pursue the case. WGA management met with Leith, who later deleted the tweet, issued an apology, and described her statement as “baseless, utterly false and inaccurate”. According to the source, Leith resigned as co-chair of the Strike Adaptation Committee over the incident.

It is important to note that Murphy has also held producer and director positions, in addition to being a member of the Guild’s western division. As long as he is not acting, he is allowed to continue working in cinema without violating WGA principles.

On May 1, 2023, the agreement between the Writers Guild of America and the Motion Picture and Television Producers Guild expired. This agreement regulates the procedure for transferring money from movie studios to screenwriters. According to the rules, the Guild leadership declares a strike if the parties cannot agree on the terms of the next one when the previous deal ends. On May 2, the Writers Guild of America’s seventh strike began.

Previously, due to the Writers Guild of Hollywood strike, suspended Production of the third season of The White Lotus.
