Elena Furiase (Madrid, 1988) was prominent in ‘El internado’, where he shot his first sequence with his mother, Lolita Flores, but he remembers going through ups and downs, periods of success and others in his career. the phone did not ring. Now she is delighted with her character in the new Telecinco series ‘Revenge is mine’Fiction starring Lydia Bosch as Lucía, a blind physical therapist.
Lucía is a different character from all the characters she’s done. Was that what you liked most about him?
He’s a very different character because he’s blind, so he’s the one who gets me out of my comfort zone the most. I do this with all my love and respect for people who can’t see it.
How did you prepare?
I’ve always been afraid of being blind, and since I was little I’ve done things with my eyes closed as if I couldn’t see. So when they called me to ‘cast’ and my rep asked me who I wanted to prepare with, I told him I had been preparing myself for life. Later, when they caught me, the producer put me in contact with Juan, a blind physical therapist from Móstoles. I talked to him, I saw how he moved, how he felt, how he looked at life… Juan told me that sight would distract him from many things. It was therapy for me. Lucía has a lot of that.
Was it a big responsibility to make a blind character?
There is a responsibility accompanied by fear and shame because the criticism is always there and the person who has probably lived a lot with the blind still sees my shortcomings. I hope people empathize and at least see Lucía and not Elena Furiase. There is also social responsibility because we are talking about a very inclusive series that talks a lot about different genders, bisexuality, homosexuality. such a character and also a bit of a veil gives you a responsibility.
He says he has experienced success and abandonment in his profession.
Maybe I didn’t use the right word. I experienced success, the phone was smoking but they also didn’t call me, they spent months surviving, asked my family or friends for help because there was no job or the caller was enough for me. I think you have to live those moments because you learn how our business is, how the ups and downs work, one day we are on the crest of the wave and the next day the wave has passed over you and you have to come back. This lets you see that you don’t always have to wait for the project you want to arrive. As long as it’s within their value, they should take what they offer. If you let many things pass, there is a moment that still passes you by.
His first hit was ‘El internado’. Would you like to participate in the organized ‘reboot’? Amazon Prime?
I could love When I found out, I spoke to the producer and he told me Blanca’s [Suárez] and Yoon [González] They were going to make a small cameo in the first episode, but no one came out from the previous ones. I watched the first season and liked it. It didn’t have much to do with the first boarding school and so they didn’t want to include someone with a more stable character. But it would also be a nice way to engage the audience of the original series.

Very strong! Ana had to make many sacrifices to get where she is. For many people, this will be an incentive because they will think: If he succeeded, why not me? What she has accomplished is beautiful and remains, above all, herself.

Maybe. However, I am a person who has always taken root in my country, my city, my people and my family… I didn’t feel I think I would have suffered a lot from feeling alone. I missed my family so much when I was independent! I do not rule out the possibility of working there at some point, it would be a dream, but now I have started my family, I have a job in my country and I can live as I want, that’s it. It’s not something I need. I don’t know if I would leave everything and go.
