Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who wrote the Lara Croft series for Amazon, in a new interview with The New York Times, said About how the hero of the Tomb Raider video games will appear on the screen.
“High-risk action for both men and women appeals to me. I love the rhythm and the ability to write a female character in a world like this. I know Lara would be interpreted as a “modern woman,” but it’s my job to surprise people with characters,” she wondered.
Waller-Bridge likened the task to writing a screenplay for James Bond.
“He’s the coolest man in the world! And the famous misogynist! I don’t need men and women with perfect manners. I like to be a little dangerous, especially sexually,” she says.
Prior to that, archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft was portrayed onscreen by Angelina Jolie (in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider 2 – The Cradle of Life 2003) and Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider: Lara Croft. 2018).
