University of California labor economist David Neumark conducted a study on Disney’s working conditions. It has been reported Guard.
According to the economist’s findings, women in the company are paid, on average, 2% less than men. He said Disney owed women more than $150 million because of underpayments to employees since 2015.
Neumark’s report to the court said it took into account job levels, tenure and other factors that could affect pay when comparing men’s and women’s salaries. Based on this, the economist considered underpayment as a result of gender discrimination.
“When it comes to a brand like Disney, the situation is frustrating and particularly damaging to women. Employees love their jobs. “They love the content that Disney produces and they just want to be paid fairly.”
In 2019, an employee underpayment lawsuit was filed against Disney. Women claimed that they were paid less because they worked in the same positions as men.
