The mention of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was removed from the facade of the Kharkov Academic Drama Theater building. In this respect informs TASS, with reference to theater director Elena Tkachenko.
“The name of the Russian writer was officially removed from the name of the theater at the end of last December, but only now the sign on the facade of the building has been dismantled,” he said in an interview with Ukrainian media.
Drama theater workers hired industrial climbers themselves for this task.
The Kharkiv Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Pushkin was renamed in December 2022 by the decision of the local City Council deputies on the fourth attempt. Prior to this, the renaming had not received enough votes. The word “Russian” and the name of Pushkin disappeared from the title.
Previous Ukrainian edition of “Strana.ua” reported on the replacement of the memorial plaque on the house-museum building of the writer Mikhail Bulgakov. According to the publication, there is no longer any inscription in Russian on it that Bulgakov is a “Russian, Soviet writer.”
